Amethyst provides flexible on-line learning courses for beginners and those with more experience, using both Learndirect courses and other supplementary courses and materials. The four main subject areas we offer training in are:

Vocational - Short duration courses

Forklift Truck - Theory and practical training, including licence on both Reach and Counterbalance trucks (non-learndirect)

CSCS Cards - Construction Health and Safety, (non-learndirect)

Food hygiene - Certificates in Food Hygiene.

Sage Bookkeeping - Stages 1and 2.

Workskills

Our Workskills programme is ideal for anyone looking to improve their employability in the current job climate. The course is intended to help you back into work, and covers various topics designed to fully support you through every step of gaining employment, from sessions tailored to help you find and apply for suitable vacancies, to workshops intended to help you maximize your potential in a job interview. The programme also covers self-assessment (celebrating your strengths and recognising your areas for development), career progression, your rights and responsibilities at work, solving work-related problems and safe learning in the workplace. Support is also provided with regards to CVs and cover letters, with the opportunity to update your details on the Direct Gov Universal Jobmatch website.

Computer and IT Courses

If you want to brush up your existing skills, learn some new ones or even if you're an absolute computer novice - these are the courses for you. Learndirect offers a fantastic range of computer courses to help you at home or at work. Foundation course for anyone new to a computer, through to computer basics and using the Internet and Email. We also run ECDL level 1 and 2 qualifications, so you can gain practical office skills in Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Presentation software. It could open up a whole new world!

English and Maths

Would you like to improve your work-based communication skills, or your ability to apply mathematics to your daily life? Maybe you would like to help your children with their homework, or feel more confident filling in forms and sorting out money? Learndirect can help you brush up on your English and Maths skills through our Skills for Life programmes, and once you get started you’ll find that it’s easier than you thought. When you’ve improved your word and number skills you can even show what you’ve learnt by gaining a Maths or English qualification – perhaps you would like a Level 1 qualification to improve your employability, or a Level 2 qualification for university entrance or to become a classroom assistant. Certificates in Adult Numeracy and Literacy are available through Learndirect, are nationally recognised and are available up to the same level as GCSEs.
